One type of ant, the Bullet Ant, isn’t native to New Jersey (or anywhere stateside) but is interesting nonetheless. It possesses what is widely regarded as the most painful insect sting in the animal kingdom, inflicting an intense, burning, and sometimes temporarily paralyzing, sting similar to being shot (hence the name). These ants are found in Costa Rica, Brazil, and the Amazon basin. The ants on Englewood properties are most likely to be odorous house ants, carpenter ants, pavement ants, or little black ants.
