Caldwell
Professional Pests Control

Caldwell is an Essex County town situated among rolling hills and forested pockets. In the mid-1700s, it was the location of one of the first rebellions against British rule. Today, freedom rings, not only for people but for rodents, arachnids, and insects, too.

Caldwell’s Nearby Nature and Historical Rebellion

Caldwell is an Essex County town located in an area marked by wooded wonderlands, sloping terrain, and stately trees. While suburban in nature, it flirts with a rural aura due to its proximity to parks, open space, and nature reserves. Historically, it played a part in America’s founding through its connection to the Horseneck Riots, mid-18th-century land disputes that snowballed into armed rebellion and ignited anger against British authorities, previewing the revolution destined to take place decades later.

Today, its small-town charm dominates, with local favorite haunts, diverse eateries, and boutiques on seemingly every corner. Its walkable downtown is a mix of modern businesses, old-world architecture, and timeworn churches. Residents enjoy farmers’ markets, street fairs, holiday parades, football games, and seasonal events. The town was also the birthplace of President Grover Cleveland, and his presence is still felt via a museum and park that bear his name.

Caldwell

Booming Breeders, Famed Feminists, and Melodious Menaces

Like other places in the Garden State, Caldwell is home to plenty of pests. They enter residences and buildings regularly, quickly becoming infestations because of their high reproductive capacity.

Mice are especially known for their birthing ways; having one mouse in your home is all but impossible (instead, you most likely have dozens!). One reason they’re such prolific breeders is their short pregnancies, lasting roughly three weeks. They don’t have much of a babymoon, either; female mice can get pregnant again 24 hours after giving birth. Mice are romantics, too, using ultrasonic sounds to woo one another. Male mice alter these sounds based on whether or not they’re familiar with a particular female (Hey, girl, remember me from the summer of ‘98?).

Carpenter bees are known for chewing perfectly round holes into wood, using the excavated timber for their nests, tunnels, and storage (and weakening the wood’s structure in the process). But it’s not just wood that’s subject to their geometric genius; some bees chew perfect circles into flowers. They do this to suck out the nectar without pollinating.

Clover mites stand out in the insect world for their feminist fortitude: all of these mites are female and can reproduce by giving birth to clones of themselves. Although it’s easy to appreciate them as truly independent females, their reproductive parlor trick also means one clover mite can quickly turn into an invasion. They’re so tiny that opening a door or window, walking by, or using a fan can all create enough gust to redistribute them. Now . . . an infestation isn’t just on your Caldwell home’s east wall; it’s all over your living room.

Crickets are heard more than seen, but large infestations have been documented, including locust-like swarms that devastated crops and covered roadways. Only male crickets chirp, doing so to communicate with each other, attract mates, and warn of danger. They chirp quietly (if at all) when they sense the presence of bats, as bats regularly feed on crickets (as well as moths, mosquitoes, flies, and beetles), eating hundreds of them in one night and using echolocation to snatch them off the ground or intercept them in mid-air.
