Professional Pests Control

Palisades Park is one of the most developed towns in New Jersey. Known for its high energy, compact commerce, and surrounding beauty, it draws a melting pot of residents. Pests are just as variable, with dozens of species native to the area.

Palisades Park’s Urban Essence and Serene Surroundings

Palisades Park parks itself in southeastern Bergen County, offering a front-row seat to the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline. Densely developed, this town looms large, offering direct access to New York City while maintaining its own commercial metrics. Small businesses, apartment complexes, and snug residential streets create a tight-knit, welcoming feel. The area lacks the open space of neighboring towns, but it’s welcomingly walkable, high-energy, and eclectic. After all, why hike the hills when you can hike to the hardware store?

While oozing urbanness, the region’s surrounding beauty shines through. Positioned next to some of New Jersey’s most dramatic natural landscapes, cliffside views, striking rock formations, and grab-your-camera sunsets are just around the corner. The culture is a melodic medley, with generational families and new arrivals unified in friendship and camaraderie. A Korean-American influence is prominently felt, and Korean BBQ, bakeries, and specialty markets draw visitors from all over.

Natural Beauty Meets Nature’s Nuisances

Palisades Park, with its hustle and bustle and metropolis spirit packed into little more than a single square mile, is something of a pest paradise, drawing in those that love to feast on discarded crumbs, set up camp in trash cans, and take advantage of compact city waste.

Houseflies are common pests that enter homes and buildings through open doors and tattered screens. They constantly land on surfaces, contaminating counters, table tops, and window sills. Although they have a reputation for being dirty and a penchant for flying into garbage, they’re obsessive groomers, cleaning themselves with the dedication of kittens.

Boxelder bugs are more subtle. They overwinter in wall voids and emerge when the weather warms. They might appear near windows, on ceilings or light fixtures, along baseboards, and in the corners of rooms. Ladybugs overwinter in wall voids as well. When solitary, they’re considered lucky in many cultures. Palisades Park infestations aren’t as fortuitous; dramatic gatherings can carpet entire walls, making them appear as if they’re moving. Ladybugs don’t spread disease (unlike ticks and mosquitoes), but their droppings and sheddings can trigger allergies.

Wasps come in barbed-bottom blends (including yellow jackets and hornets) and exhibit a range of behaviors. Cicada killer wasps are unique for their specialized stinging strategy, which targets the nerve centers of cicadas and instantly paralyzes them. However, they don’t eat them in the “pass the potatoes” sense; rather, they drag cicadas into burrows, lay their eggs on them, and use them to nourish their larvae (making the cicada less of a meal and more of an unwitting participant in the wasp’s reproduction repertoire). Despite this, cicada killer wasps aren’t aggressive to people. The females rarely sting humans, and the males are unable to sting; males may do a “buzz by” or dive bomb, but they’re posturing pests, not animals capable of piercing the skin.
