Although they’re simple creatures (so simple, they don’t even need sleep!), they’re also resourceful; they build climate-controlled colonies and communicate with each other. The termite queen enjoys an exceptionally long life by insect standards, living 40 years or longer.

Rats are intelligent creatures, naturally afraid of new things (as a survival mechanism). They laugh in ultrasonic pitches, show empathy, and can drive tiny cars. Rats also get quite large, especially in places where food is plentiful. However, they’ll never rival the rodents of prehistoric times, no matter how many Cheezits they eat. The biggest “rat” ever was the Josephoartigasia Monesi, a 2000-pound rodent that lived in South America four million years ago.
