Ghost ants vs other ants
Ants, in general, are equal in numbers as close to the number of humans on the earth. Within their enormous population, there are over 12,000 different species that have been recorded. Overall, each species practices the same organization of habits of colonizing and growing, with the exception of the preference of where to establish the colony. Other than that, their day-to-day behaviors are the same.
There is one exception to this normal though. Ghost ants. Ghost ants do not follow a rigged pattern for colonization. Rather, they adapt to their surroundings, making their home anywhere. Meanwhile, other ants look for specific climates, conditions, and physical spaces. They do not veer from their preference in this regard. Carpenter ants will most likely find a tree or another wood-like home. Fire ants will build their homes underground, making elaborate tunnels.
Taking it a step further, establishing the colony is also different. Ghost ants begin a colony with one or several queen ants leaving the first colony along with a handful of worker ants and establishing a new one. With all other colonies, a queen will leave but she will establish and hold down the colony herself, that is until the first eggs mature and the new colony begins to fill with busy little ants working and growing this new civilization.
Since ghost ants operate in this manner, they also do not have internal fighting. They do not mind having more than one queen in a colony. Alternatively, other ants work for one colony only and do not prefer other colony members to cross from one colony to the other. If this were to happen, there would most likely be infighting between the colonies.
Lastly, we can go to the bare basics on the difference between ghost ants and other ants. Their color. Most likely, everyone has seen a large black ant or a small red ant – even a dark brown ant! Ghost ants are easily identified due to the color of their bodies. They have a dark-colored head and thorax. However, the rest of their body, including their arms and legs, are white. Ghost ants also lack a spine and the shape of their antennae angle down.
Kapture is here, trained, and qualified to assist in any infestation you may encounter. From a ghost ant to any other, we can rid your home of pests.
