They have wings but aren’t very gifted flyers; they mainly get from place to place by jumping.

Springtails jump, too; their springlike tails propel them into the air. They break down decaying organic material and thrive in soil and leaf litter. When they invade homes, they prefer damp areas and, due to their minute size, are often mistaken for ants.
